Geographical position and connections
The Basilicata Region has got an extension of 9.992 km ( 3% of national area) and is one of the smallest regions of Italy.
Its territory is mainly constituted by montainous area (about 47%) lowland area (45%), and a small undulating area.
The region is subdivided in two provinces Potenza (chief town) and Matera.
